Chinese Herbal Medicine
Sometimes the body may need further support and Chinese herbal formulas can be used to treat a very wide range of health problems.
Chinese Herb Medicine is a natural, effective and complete medical system on its own, however, it is compatable with and often taken along side Acupuncture or Shiatsu. Tim Mulvagh is a fully qualified Chinese Medical Herbalist and a member of the register of Chinese herbal Medicine (MRCHM)

Herbs are supplied directly to the client by Mayway Herbs

Here is what some of our clients say about Chinese Herbs

Chinese Herbs and Shiatsu for Fatigue
I used to getreally tired and sleepy after eating. I just couldn’t keep my head up. I had no or little appetite. I received regular Shiatsu sessions and Chinese herbal medicine. After the second session I began to feel improvement in my energy and appetite. I now use Shiatsu on a regular basis to maintain my health and when I need more help I also take Chinese herbs. AR

Chinese Herbs for Chest Pain
I have had long term Coronary Heart Disease, which has prevented me enjoying one of my favourite activities of hill and mountain walking. I would get breathless and tired and my chest would get very painful. I decided to undertake a course of Chinese herbal medicine as I had studied Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs in Paris when I was younger, I am now a researcher in the History of Science. I found the herbs to be very helpful as they allowed me to go mountain walking again without the tiredness and pain. I started to feel beter two weeks after starting the herbs and I have enjoyed better sleep and more energy for over a year. My herbal formula was regularly adjusted in responce to the changing stresses in my life, the seasons as well as my condition. I think this is a very important part of the treatment as with each adjustment I felt a new boost to my recovery process. What has impressed me about the Chinese medical approach is the practitioner's ability to listen and adapt to the patient. The whole person is taken into consideration not just the disease. AM

CHINESE HERBS #02Chinese Herbs for the after care for Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy
'Having originally reaped the benefit of Chinese Herbs in alleviating the side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, I have returned again and again to Chinese Herbs for holistic support when my health has become challenging, e.g. skin flare-ups and menopausal symptoms. The consultations for Chinese Herbs have taken place as a one to one with courteous, careful and considered questioning of me and my lifestyle followed by prescribing. Clear instructions are given to the taking of the Herbs along with reassurance and recommendations. I have appreciated Tim's deep listening skills and empathy as an integral part of my treatments. Chinese Herbs for Acne
Having a severe problem with facial acne, I decided to try Chinese medicine after a friend's suggestion who had tried it before. I had always been interested in alternative therapies as I wanted to avoid the side effects of conventional (chemical) medicine. After about 3 weeks of treatment I am in the pleasant position to find that my face skin is getting better and better day by day. The procedure is really simple as well, I just spent 1 hour talking about my problem and since then I drink my tea everyday (which I would normally drink anyway!)
I recommend Chinese medicine whole heartedly to anyone who is curious about it, it's worth trying! DG

Shiatsu and Chinese Herbs for Pain along the right side of the body.
I suffered headaches and pain in the neck, shoulder blade, arm, hip and leg all on my right side. I was always cold and tired. I couldn’t sleep properly because of the pain. There was a lot of stress in my life at this time. I had Shiatsu and Chinese herbal medicine and felt more energy after two weeks and the right sided pain went within two months except for the shoulder pain. I felt more relaxed and better able to cope with the day and although the shoulder pain had eased with the treatment it didn’t completely disappear. I then started to do the exercises along with the treatment and within six months the shoulder pain was gone.PS

Shiatsu and Chinese Herbs for lower back pain
Thank you for helping fix my lower back pain. I’ve been amazed at what the combination of shiatsu and Chinese herbs can do. And I’m sure the fact that you take the time to prescribe from scratch and continually adjust the herbal mixtures, instead of relying on ready made formulas, adds to their continual effectiveness too. JP

Chinese Herbs and Shiatsu for Acne
I started seeing Tim for acney. I had been receiving various treatments from my doctor for a couple of years with very little result. Within a few days of taking my chinese medicine my skin cleared up! It was so sucessful that I have since visited Tim for all my other general minor ailments. My only regret is I now keep so well that I dont have the chance to visit him and receive the shaitsu massage that I had after each consultation! JAA

Our therapies, being based on or compatable with Oriental Medicine, are well matched and can be taken individually or in conjunction with each other. They are in most case compatible with Western medicines and therapies.
